We're Hiring: Experienced Senior Accountant

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an Experienced Senior Accountant to bring strong financial insight, precision, and a collaborative mindset to our operations team.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of Kernic Systems. Reporting directly to our management team, you’ll be responsible for full-cycle accounting functions, from day-to-day financial transactions to month-end reporting, while supporting continuous improvements in our accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage full-cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, journal entries, reconciling accounts, and bank statements.
  2. Maintain and reconcile general ledger and bank accounts.
  3. Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  4. Monitor and manage cash flow and bank transactions.
  5. Payroll processing including commission payments, administration of group retirement plan and group benefits plan.
  6. Manage and process government filings: HST, EHT, WSIB, employee withholdings, T4s, and other statutory remittances.
  7. Assist with annual budgeting and year-end audit preparations.
  8. Support inventory tracking, prepare and analyze job costing for projects.
  9. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely financial reporting and analysis.
  10. Recommend improvements to accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar full-cycle accounting role.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and tax compliance.
  • Sound knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop Premier; ERP familiarity is a plus.
  • Excellent Excel skills and overall MS Office proficiency.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently in a small team environment.
Compensation

$75,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
