Position Summary
This role is a key part of the Village Administration, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer. The responsibilities include overseeing public works activities such as monitoring sewage lagoons, sewage lift stations, grading roads, snow clearing with a grader, and other related duties. Maintenance of the community hall, seasonal lawn care, and building upkeep are also part of this role.
The position supports the Chief Administrative Officer in managing the public works department effectively.

The village staff includes the Chief Administrative Officer, Public Works Foreman/Equipment & Systems Operator, an Admin Assistant, and a seasonal summer employee.
The position
This is a solo public works role requiring patience, adaptability, and a proactive attitude. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of providing cost-effective solutions and advice. You should enjoy working outdoors and independently. Requirements include a minimum high school diploma, experience operating equipment (grader, Bobcat), and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a small system wastewater certificate, equipment operator certificates, and participate in Incident Command System training up to the 300 level.

The Village of Holden is situated 100 kilometers east of Edmonton, off Highway 14, at the center of Beaver County.
