Job Summary:
The Quality Manager in the manufacturing sector is responsible for overseeing the quality management system, ensuring that all products meet or exceed the company’s standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing a team of QA professionals, implementing quality control processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Manager collaborates closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Management Systems (QMS):
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma).
- Ensure all quality processes, procedures, and documentation are up-to-date and properly followed across the manufacturing facility.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure ongoing certification to relevant quality standards.
- Quality Control & Inspection:
- Oversee daily quality control activities, including inspection, testing, and evaluation of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
- Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Ensure that the final products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using quality methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Total Quality Management (TQM).
- Analyze production data and identify trends or areas for improvement in quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and ensure sustainable results.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop the QA team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to ensure high levels of engagement and productivity within the team.
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem-Solving:
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for any quality-related issues and develop robust action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
- Supplier Quality Management:
- Evaluate and monitor the quality performance of suppliers and vendors.
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure supplier quality standards are met and maintained.
- Conduct supplier audits and implement improvement programs where necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as customer-specific quality requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and reporting in line with regulatory and certification standards.
- Stay updated on changes in industry regulations and ensure the company remains compliant with evolving standards.
- Customer Satisfaction & Feedback:
- Act as a liaison between the company and its customers for all quality-related matters.
- Address customer complaints and feedback, conducting thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Foster strong relationships with customers, ensuring their quality expectations are met or exceeded.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular reports on quality metrics, non-conformance trends, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality control tests, inspections, and audits.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ISO Lead Auditor) are preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in managing quality teams and implementing quality systems in a manufacturing setting.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles, including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO standards.
- Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, RCA, SPC, and control charts.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Qualifications:

- Experience with ERP systems and quality tracking tools.
