Job description

Job Title: Senior Broker, Mining

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Mining Broking Group within Aon.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

What the day will look like
  1. Participate in client and prospect meetings.
  2. Collaborate with clients to develop coverage strategies and marketing initiatives for renewal and prospective business.
  3. Support growth strategies and prospecting activities with sales producers.
  4. Contribute to building national initiatives around Casualty lines of coverage.
  5. Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to less experienced Brokers within the national group.
  6. Build productive relationships with peers and professionals internally and externally to exchange information and make recommendations.
  7. Analyze client-specific risk exposure and coverage requirements.
  8. Prepare and present marketing proposals for renewals and new business.
  9. Negotiate with underwriters to secure favorable terms and conditions regarding premiums and coverage.
  10. Follow up with insurers to ensure negotiated contract terms are met.
  11. Approve documentation for new contracts, policy changes, and renewals.
  12. Establish and cultivate relationships within the underwriting community to achieve optimal premiums and coverage.
  13. Perform other related duties as required.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 5+ years of insurance experience and knowledge.
  • Expertise in Casualty is an asset.
  • Experience in the Natural Resources / Energy / Mining sector is an asset.
  • Broker license is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to make an impact and influence clients and insurance companies.
