Job summary

A leading children's healthcare provider is seeking a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst to provide clinical supervision and manage caseloads for children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. Qualifications

Job description

The Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst provides clinical supervision to clinicians on cases requiring consultation for clinical intervention, including complex treatment protocols and intrusive behavioural strategies. This role also involves managing a caseload by delivering behaviour management services within an interdisciplinary framework to children and youth with autism spectrum disorders.

Services encompass assessment, treatment, therapeutic programming, clinical consultation, program evaluation, training, education, and research across various settings in CHEO’s Eastern Ontario region, including homes, community settings, and group homes. Travel, as well as evening and weekend work, are expected.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop, monitor, and evaluate evidence-based ABA therapeutic interventions.
  2. Assist staff with problem-solving and decision-making related to clinical supervision of their caseloads.
  3. Develop and deliver formal staff training on managing severe problem behaviors (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction).
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members within CHEO.
  5. Represent CHEO on internal and external clinical review committees concerning behaviour practices and ABA.
  6. Provide mandatory clinical supervision for children and youth with intrusive behavioural intervention strategies, in accordance with the Child and Family Services Act.
  7. Implement evidence-based practices across all service delivery areas.
  8. Maintain community and educational agency linkages.
  9. Offer consultation to clients, families, professional groups, agency staff, mental health workers, and medical providers.
  10. Participate in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and task forces.
  11. Prepare and maintain documentation such as assessment reports, treatment and program plans, guidelines, review summaries, and discharge summaries.
  12. Adhere to best practice service models.
  13. Ensure confidentiality and comply with organizational privacy policies.
  14. Follow safety policies, report incidents, manage risks, and participate in safety training and protocols.
  15. Apply infection prevention measures, including proper hygiene and equipment maintenance.
  16. Educate clients and families about safety and their roles in promoting it.
  17. Remain adaptable to evolving job duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree in Applied Disabilities Studies, Psychology, or a related field.
  2. Good standing with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  3. Eligibility or active registration on the Ontario Autism Program Provider list as of April 2021.
  4. At least five years of recent related experience in behavioral management or ABA community programs for developmental delays.
  5. Advanced knowledge of ABA and its applications.
  6. Experience supervising clinical staff.
  7. Competence in assessment skills with children, youth, and families.
  8. Leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, open to feedback.
  10. Knowledge of community resources for children and youth with special needs.
  11. Proficiency with clinical software and Microsoft Office.
  12. Cultural sensitivity and ability to serve diverse populations.
  13. Willingness and ability to travel across Renfrew and attend last-minute meetings.
  14. Valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and capacity for daily community visits.
