Status: Full Time

Located in Barrie and under the direction of the Manager, Purchasing, the Procurement Specialist leads high dollar value, complex, and/or sensitive procurement activities. The role ensures the college obtains the best value for money when acquiring supplies, materials, equipment, and services, within budget and according to college procedures. The incumbent manages sensitive and confidential information, consults with internal clients, investigates suppliers and products, prepares RFx requests, and facilitates evaluation, negotiation, and award processes. The role emphasizes fair and transparent competition, supplier negotiations, and relationship management. Responsibilities include sourcing, market analysis, procurement process development, and collaboration with other government agencies. Specific duties encompass leading procurement processes, managing tenders and contracts, procurement planning, purchasing administration, and supplier management. The role also involves using technology for procurement activities, maintaining databases, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. Qualifications include a three-year diploma/degree in business or related field, professional certification (CPPB, CPPO, or CSCMP), eight years of supply chain experience with at least three years in RFx development and negotiations, and strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
