Harris Law Personal Injury Lawyers is a boutique victim-sided civil litigation firm. We currently have four lawyers, one articling student, and firm Counsel, along with sixteen full-time staff. We are a busy office, and growing. We represent victims of negligence and insurance / disability coverage denials all over Ontario, as well as considerable cross-border work (provincial or American).

Role Description

This is a full-time role with a healthy balance between remote and in-office work. The successful candidate will be working directly under and be mentored by a Partner / Team Leader. There will be opportunities to manage your own files within a team format, as well as take direction on other matters as directed by your Team Leader. You will be expected to prepare files for and attend at Motions, Mediations, Pre-Trial Conferences, Tribunal Hearings, and assist with Trials, as directed by your Team Leader. You will work directly with clients handled by your Team.

Qualifications

• Legal research and courtroom experience
• Experience with Motions, and ideally some contested Motions
• Experience with Examinations for Discovery, ideally solo
• Familiarity with court procedures and protocols
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with factum and compendium drafting
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• LSO Licensee or ability to transfer to Ontario status, if out of Province.
• At least two full years of Civil Litigation experience, preferably in personal injury or insurance defence
• Junior Criminal Lawyers looking for a chance to apply your trial advocacy skills in the Civil environment are welcome
• Social Media and ethical A.I. skills
