Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant role in the success of Ganotec. You will serve as a field supervisor responsible for managing multiple foremen and/or laborers/craft workers. Your duties include organizing work methods, scheduling, cost control, ensuring work conforms with drawings and specifications, maintaining workmanship quality, and assigning work either directly or through foremen. You will also work to maintain positive relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and site staff.

District Overview

Ganotec is a comprehensive heavy industrial contractor serving the Canadian industrial sector. We perform major disciplines such as civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical installation, process piping, electrical, and instrumentation. We work through various contract styles, including turnkey, EPC, design-build, T&M, and discipline packages. We emphasize partnering—collaborating with owners, suppliers, and engineers early in project development for cost-effective execution. Location

This role is based in the GTA area.

Responsibilities
  • Plan activities for foremen and crews
  • Assist in project coordination and planning
  • Oversee operations related to specific disciplines or work segments
  • Perform daily inspections of work performed
  • Provide safety training and promote safety awareness among personnel
  • Establish and monitor budgetary guidelines and cost control measures
  • Set quality standards and ensure compliance with quality assurance and company standards
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of construction experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in the oil & gas industry
  • Ability to oversee multiple disciplines such as steel, piping, and mechanical
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently
  • Quick learner of company policies, procedures, and software
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership, safety, negotiation, planning, and contract administration experience
