The Durham Children’s Aid Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and regulated by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and the Ontario Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA). It is mandated to provide child protection services to children and youth under 18 and their families in Durham Region.
The Society works with families and community partners to help children grow up safe, healthy, and happy. In most cases, they ensure children's safety in their family homes by collaborating with parents to address challenges they face.
The Society emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, partnering with parents, caregivers, and the community to provide a safe environment for children and youth through equitable, culturally aligned services.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for setting strategic direction and providing leadership to 309 staff, overseeing a $50 million operating budget.
Supported by the Leadership Team, the Executive Director manages daily operations, ensuring service delivery complies with legislation and standards, and aligns with the strategic plan and anti-oppressive, equity-focused policies and practices.
