Job description

Founded in 2022, ValPay is an all-in-one payment solution tailored to empower its partners' software platforms. Designed for ambitious business owners wanting to focus on growing their business rather than the logistics needed to run it, ValPay helps companies prevent fraud, gain access to real-time reporting, and accept both online and in-person payments. ValPay’s PayFac-as-a-Service model gives its partners all the benefits of integrated payments while handling the heavy lifting.

ValPay is a subsidiary of Valsoft

Backed by Valsoft’s entrepreneurial model and ecosystem of businesses, ValPay is uniquely positioned to scale rapidly by serving both internal customers across the Valsoft network and external customers globally. Established in Canada in 2015, Valsoft has grown to a global portfolio of 115+ companies, acquiring and developing vertical market software companies, enabling each business to deliver the best mission-critical solutions for customers in their respective industries or niche. A key tenet of Valsoft’s philosophy is to invest in well-established businesses and foster an entrepreneurial environment that molds companies into leaders in their respective industries. Valsoft looks to buy, hold and create value through long-term partnerships with existing management. Unlike private equity and venture capital firms, we want to buy and retain companies indefinitely. That’s right; we don’t sell businesses. We form a strategic alliance with the existing management team. We recognize the dedication and perseverance required to create a firm and place a premium on the company’s, customers’ and workers’ well-being over short-term goals.

Role Overview

As Chief Executive Officer of ValPay, you will lead the business through its next phase of growth and innovation. While ValPay today is a trusted payments provider, the vision is to build it into a comprehensive fintech platform offering embedded finance, AR / AP automation, billing services, expense management, and beyond. You will be responsible for scaling the core business, launching and growing new product lines, and driving commercial success across both Valsoft-owned and external customers. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a strategic and execution-focused operator to shape the future of ValPay and build a fintech business of enduring value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term vision and strategy to evolve ValPay into a leading fintech platform.
  • Oversee and execute go-to-market strategies to unlock payments opportunities across Valsoft portfolio companies and external markets.
  • Identify and launch new business lines under the ValPay umbrella (e.g., embedded finance, AR / AP, billing, expense management).
  • Drive the growth of the business—top and bottom line—through product innovation, market expansion, and operational excellence.
  • Manage the full P&L and ensure strong financial performance and disciplined capital allocation.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a strong product and customer-centric mindset throughout the organization.
  • Continuously assess market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to inform product and business decisions.
  • Ensure systems, processes, and infrastructure are scalable to support sustainable growth.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and ecosystem relationships to accelerate revenue growth.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree : Master of Business Administration (MBA) is considered an asset.
  • Fintech or payments experience is an asset.
  • Proven leadership experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments, with a demonstrated ability to scale businesses.
  • Strong operational expertise with a hands-on approach to building and growing teams and businesses.
  • Proven ability to drive business growth through a deep understanding of go-to-market strategies, customer acquisition, and market positioning.
  • Strong financial acumen with a proven track record of managing P&L, driving profitability, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Comfortable working in a high-autonomy, high-accountability environment with a focus on building long-term, sustainable value.

Personal Characteristics

  • Highly entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building and scaling businesses.
  • Team builder with a track record of hiring, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Strategic and resourceful, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Hands-on and execution-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for results.

This role is based in Montreal, Quebec.
