Job description

Are You a Clever Duck? Take a gander at this post...

Accent Inns Inc. is a BC-based hospitality company that is different in a good way. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team for a 12-month parental leave coverage contract in Victoria, BC. We lead with love, and our number one metric is the happiness of our staff, whom we call our Fam-Jam. Our 2025 Employee Survey showed that 97% of our employees are happy to work here, with a 96% participation rate.

We have two hotel chains: Accent Inns, where there is a rubber duck in every room, and Hotel Zed, where we rebel against the ordinary. Our latest venture is ROAR, our live-fire restaurant in Tofino, BC. We are searching for a Senior Accountant to join our fun-loving team to drive our business forward in the long term.

This role reports to Patricia Schoenroth, our Controller, and will involve supporting our Finance team in accounting tasks, planning, and team engagement activities while our Senior Accountant welcomes her first child.

  • Named one of Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures four years in a row.
  • Recipient of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada's Business of the Year award.
  • Employer of the Year from Tourism Canada.
  • Revenue doubled and profits tripled in nine years.
  • Our CEO, Mandy Farmer, received multiple awards including Hotelier of the Year.

Our success is driven by our four Core Values:

  • Be Real
  • Have Fun
  • Make Everything Better
  • Have Each Other's Backs
Benefits & Work Perks

We cover 100% of medical and dental premiums, plus mental health benefits. Additional perks include:

  • Free hotel nights and discounts for friends & family
  • Life improvement courses through our Live your Best Life fund
  • Employee purchase program
  • Leadership development and coaching
  • Hybrid work model: 2 days WFH, 3 days at our Victoria office

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

The Role

Supporting our Controller, you will assist with financial statement analysis, mentor Accounting Technicians, and oversee various accounting functions.

In your first 3 months, you will:

  • Partner with the Controller and team members to understand your responsibilities
  • Build relationships with operational leaders
  • Collaborate with external consultants to identify improvement areas

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Own the role fully, implement improvements, and support the team
  • Manage multiple month-end processes and automation projects
  • Mentor team members and support budgeting and forecasting
  • Oversee cash flow projections and banking transactions

This role offers the chance to influence operational success and promote financial best practices across departments.
