Professor, Office Administration - Part Time

Status : Part Time

Hours : Monday to Friday; between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm

Rate of Pay : Commensurate upon qualifications and experience

Job Summary

We are seeking qualified professionals to teach part-time in our Office Administration program at our Fennell Campus, in person.

Expertise in the following areas is desired:
  • Medical grammar and spelling
  • Webpage Design: HTML and CSS coding
  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Express Scribe, and Typist App
  • Clinic Information EMR software
  • Plug and Play scanner
Courses to be taught include:
  • Medical Transcription Level 2
  • Webpage Design
  • Manage Electronic Data
  • Digital Communications

Start dates : Fall, Winter, Spring semester (courses may run Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm)

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:

  • Relevant educational qualifications in Office Administration, Health Services, or a closely related field (Diploma)
  • Minimum five years of professional and relevant experience in the Medical Secretary / Support industry
  • Prior post-secondary teaching experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge as noted above
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills, with a commitment to diversity and equity
  • Ability to convey conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles
  • Prior experience with technology (LMS, online teaching, etc.) is preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot software and computer issues
  • Commitment to teamwork and participative decision-making
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with effective communication skills with diverse groups

Part-time faculty positions support Mohawk College’s response to the Calls to Action in Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report. Preference is given to Indigenous Peoples or Peoples of Turtle Island, including First Nations (status or non-status), Métis, and Inuit.

Applicants should have experience and knowledge of Indigenous education, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and EDI in curriculum development, teaching, and learning.
