Summary of the role
The open position is for a Mechanical Engineer within the hydro generator engineering group. The team is responsible for the custom design of large hydro generator components, primarily focusing on North American generator projects. This team operates at the Andritz Hydro Peterborough Generator Center, which features a modern coil and bar manufacturing facility. The role involves technical responsibility for mechanical design throughout all project stages, including proposal, contract design, manufacturing, and installation. The successful candidate will engage in topics such as stress analysis, heat transfer, ventilation, vibration, and bearing analysis.
The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with local engineering, drafting teams, external engineering specialists, project management, manufacturing, and installation teams. Occasional travel to customer locations, project sites, or other Andritz offices will be required.
