Assistant Manager - Retail

Position Purpose: Assistant Store Managers (ASMs) report to the Store Manager (SM) and are responsible for managing store associates, sales, customer service, safety standards, product availability, store appearance, and profitability of a retail store. Each ASM has direct responsibility for a specific area: Operations, Night Operations, Merchandising, or Specialty. ASMs collaborate with associates to ensure they have the knowledge to assist customers, perform processes, and meet expectations. They exercise judgment and discretion alone, and with the Store Manager and other leaders, in daily operations. ASMs are also responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring safety policies are followed, hazards are corrected, and safety training is completed.

Night Operations Assistant Manager (NOASM) Responsibilities:

• Oversee overnight freight operations, including unload, pack out, and pack down processes.
• Work with Night Replenishment Managers to ensure efficient freight handling.
• Partner with the SM and other ASMs to develop strategies to increase sales and profitability.
• Direct associates on priorities, coaching them regularly, and ensuring knowledge of freight processes.
• Make employment decisions such as hiring, performance management, and discipline.
• Lead by example, championing safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 20% - On Shelf Availability: Manage freight activities, ensure inventory accuracy, and address stock issues.
2. 25% - People: Assist in recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and associate engagement initiatives.
