Job description

Our client, a consumer electronics company, is looking for a Research & Development Manager to join their team in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Research & Development Manager will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the department, ensuring that new products align with business objectives and new market opportunities.

What Youll Be Responsible For :

• Analyzing financial and market data for strategic decision making.
• Guiding product development aligned with category strategy and corporate goals.
• Collaborating with the Marketing department for effective product positioning and differentiation.
• Managing and overseeing product patents and brand trademarks.
• Driving efficiency through process automation and continuous improvement.
• Establishing clear priorities, ensuring team alignment, and maintaining strategic focus.
• Leading negotiations with vendors on pricing, terms, and agreements.
• Developing and maintaining partnerships with suppliers, engineering firms, and manufacturers.
• Ensuring international product compliance with safety regulations and certifications.
• Evaluating and selecting technologies for new product development.
• Overseeing the strategic vision for new product development aligned with growth objectives.

Qualifications :

The Ideal Candidate :

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or other related field.
• 7 10+ years of experience in product management or Research and Development.
• 7+ years of experience in market research and competitive analysis.
• 5+ years of experience leading diverse and accountable teams.
• 5+ years of experience in consumer electronics hardware.
• 5+ years of experience with vendor management, including contract negotiations.
• Willing to travel across Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Europe, and other locations approximately 2 4 times a year.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and drive strategic initiatives.

Complimentary Experience :

• Currently held PMP or Six Sigma designation, or demonstrated progression towards these designations, is strongly preferred.
