Job description

IMPORTANT – This position is an employment opportunity with GoodLife Kids Foundation and not GoodLife Fitness.

MOVE by GoodLife Kids

GoodLife Kids Foundation (GLKF) enables and supports kids and youth with autism and intellectual disabilities through physical activity and fitness. Our vision is that all kids and youth with autism and intellectual disabilities experience the joys and benefits of being active.

Launched as a virtual program in November 2020, MOVE by GoodLife Kids is a free physical activity and fitness program for youth ages 12-21 with autism and intellectual disabilities. This in-person coaching role will contribute to the overall growth of the MOVE Program by reaching more youth.

We’re excited to continue our in-person programming with the Janus Academy this September 2024.

What is a MOVE Coach?

Each MOVE Coach is responsible for coaching and delivering exceptional fitness programming for the MOVE by GoodLife Kids program, through adaptive and progressive workouts.

You will play an important role in helping with the continued development of this national program. You will provide input and recommendations as to what works for your Participants and try out suggestions from the rest of the coaching team.

GLKF will provide training on how to support youth with disabilities – if you have a passion for helping EVERYBODY live a fit and healthy good life, this could be the job for you!

What will you be doing?

  1. Lead and deliver an exceptional fitness program for youth with autism and intellectual disabilities through coaching, instruction, and facilitation to ensure a positive and impactful experience for all. For this in-person MOVE Program, youth will be accompanied and supported throughout the class by their teacher and educational assistants.
  2. Collaborate with other MOVE Coaches to discover best practices.
  3. Create and develop workout plans that meet the programming guidelines of MOVE by GoodLife Kids to support the needs of the Participants.
  4. Build and maintain positive relationships with MOVE Participants and our Community Partners.
  5. Respond to MOVE Participants and Community Partner feedback and concerns.
  6. This role will primarily involve leading in-person classes with the opportunity to be involved with virtual programming as needed.
  7. Represent GoodLife Kids Foundation professionally, positively, and kindly.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Passion for working with youth with disabilities.
  • Experience delivering fitness classes.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Current nationally recognized Group Fitness / Coaching certification such as Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS) / Personal Training Specialist (PTS) or relevant education.
  • Current CPR-A certification.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with Participants and Community Partners.
  • Access to reliable internet connection for uninterrupted video conferencing.
  • Proven leadership ability with a passion for helping others lead healthier lifestyles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and adaptable mindset.
