Job Description
This position is suitable for individuals with experience in mental health services, preferably within non-governmental organizations or mental health institutions.
Tasks
- Conduct literature reviews and program evaluations
- Research specialized therapies and consult with healthcare professionals to evaluate treatment plans
- Diagnose behavioral disorders and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling and patient outcomes
- Examine behaviors, interview clients, and prepare case histories
- Record observations and review reports to assess patient functioning levels
- Write progress reports and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapy, counsel individuals and groups, and develop intervention programs
- Analyze patient progress during treatments and follow up on counseling outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and conduct research in the field of specialization
- Provide consultation services to organizations and deliver presentations at conferences
- Prepare assessment and court reports, liaise with community agencies, and provide referrals
- Offer expert witness testimony and public education on counseling issues
Certificates, Licences, and Memberships
Accreditation or registration with a recognized professional association is required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Windows)
Experience with Treatments
- Client-centered, cognitive, crisis intervention, psychodynamic, psychotherapy, and brief therapies
Security and Personal Suitability
- Criminal record check
- Client focus, interpersonal skills, judgment, ethics, flexibility, reliability, teamwork
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to relocate
- Experience in the field and relevant certifications
- Highest level of completed education
Experience
Minimum of 5 years or more in related roles.
