Job description

We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, customer-focused DZ-licensed truck driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and promptly transporting company products while providing outstanding customer service and complying with all transportation regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate company trucks to transport products to customer locations.
  • Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Load and unload products while ensuring cargo is properly secured to prevent damage.
  • Deliver goods safely and efficiently while complying with all company policies and traffic regulations.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking tires, fluids, lights, brakes, and overall vehicle condition.
  • Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle.
  • Follow all Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Department of Transportation (DOT), and company safety regulations.
  • Practice defensive driving techniques to protect yourself, the public, and company property.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, fuel reports, and hours of service.
  • Complete all required delivery documentation, including proof of delivery, customer signatures, and Returned Material Authorization (RMA) paperwork.
  • Verify shipping manifests and ensure delivery accuracy.
  • Report vehicle issues, delays, accidents, or incidents to the Shipping Manager immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Provide professional and courteous service during all customer interactions.
  • Communicate delivery updates and any issues to the Shipping Manager.
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and report damaged or incorrect shipments.
  • Process Cash on Delivery (COD) transactions when required.
  • Assist customers with unloading or product placement when appropriate.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes using GPS and company routing systems.
  • Adjust routes as necessary due to traffic, weather, construction, or road closures.
  • Communicate delivery delays or route changes to dispatch.
  • Coordinate additional deliveries or schedule changes as required.
  • Load, stack, and secure products safely to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely when required (training/certification considered an asset).
  • Follow proper lifting procedures and workplace safety practices.
  • Verify inventory before departure and upon delivery to ensure order accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Ontario DZ Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario roadways and transportation regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding work.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining a team player.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
  • Forklift certification. (Preferred)
  • Experience operating pallet jacks and material handling equipment. (Preferred)
  • Experience with building materials or manufacturing deliveries. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving documentation. (Preferred)

Physical Requirements
