Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking a DZ driver for day shifts in Ottawa to deliver a variety of cargo, conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintain safety on city and highway routes.

You will manage delivery schedules, communicate with customers, and ensure cargo is properly secured while adhering to safety regulations and hours of service.

Qualifications

• 6 months of verifiable DZ driving experience.
• Experience with LTL loads.
• Less than High School, but has basic reading, communication, and arithmetic skills to follow direction.
• Valid DZ license.

Position Summary

Responsible for transporting a variety of cargo on a trailer while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and securing loads properly. Your role includes conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, managing delivery schedules, and operating the vehicle safely on various routes.

Schedule:40-45 hours/week - Day Shift

What you will do

• Making deliveries in a safe and timely manner
• Constant communication with the customer
• Must be comfortable withrepetitive lifting
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement, and report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs

What You’ll Bring

• 6 months of verifiable DZ driving experience
• Experience with LTL loads
• Less than High School, but has basic reading, communication, and arithmetic skills to follow direction
• Valid DZ license

Along with the following Skills & Competencies:

• Must be comfortable with both city and highway driving, regular tight turns, and backup into small docks
• Must be comfortable lifting up to 50lbs consistently
• Follow company rules and regulations in regards to safety and hours of service
