Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools in Ladysmith is seeking a skilled Secondary Teacher for a 1.0 FTE continuing position in Junior Science/Math, French Immersion at Ladysmith Secondary School, starting as soon as practicable or by February 2027.

The role emphasizes curriculum alignment, inclusivity, Indigenous perspectives, collaboration with colleagues, and supporting student learning through diverse instructional approaches.

Qualifications

• Certified through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
• 12 UBC units (second year or greater) for the subject area at the high school level.
• Successful classroom teaching and/or pre-service experience in a secondary setting.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and pursue professional learning.
• Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives and colonization effects in education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruction for courses per BC Curriculum.
• Teach with a plan of lessons, discussions, and activities.
• Lead students in activities to develop core competencies.
• Embed First Peoples Principles of Learning in instruction.
• Assess students per NLPS guidelines and report progress.
• Communicate learning in a timely, ongoing manner.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs.
• Provide direction to Educational Assistants and student teachers.
• Support inquiry-based learning (PLC) and school plans.
• Assist with district-wide assessments and supports.
