Job summary

enCompass is seeking a Case Worker for the Domestic Violence Complainant Assistant Program (DVCAP) in Edmonton. You will support referrals and case management for clients navigating the judicial process, including direct and indirect court support and connection to resources.

The role focuses on client-centred care and adherence to DVJR protocols, with daily caseload management and collaboration with DVJR partners.

Qualifications

• Diploma in related human services field and 2 years of experience with victims of family violence.
• Professionalism in all aspects of employment and ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
• Understanding of victimization and dynamics of domestic violence.
• Strong assessment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication and engagement skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations and culturally relevant services.
• Knowledge of community resources and access to resources.
• Experience in the Criminal Justice System.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Case Worker at the Domestic Violence Complainant Assistant Program (DVCAP) supports referral and case management support to individuals involved in the judicial processes. The role provides direct and indirect court support to clients who have experienced domestic and intimate partner violence and connection to community resources. This role ensures every victim has access to practical and professional client-centred support and a voice while navigating the domestic violence criminal court process. The Case Worker is responsible for the daily management of their assigned caseload while ensuring that Domestic Violence Justice Response (DVJR) protocols are adhered to and incorporated into file management practices. The Case Worker ensures that victims have updates on court proceedings, and access to resources, supports, and services. This role primarily works out of the Edmonton Law Courts Building.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with clients over the phone and/or in person at the Law Courts Building
• Develop and monitor safety planning while assessing risk
• Provide education and information about the impact of family violence on individuals and children
• Provide referrals to other resources as appropriate
• Support clients throughout the criminal justice process, including court updates and/or changes throughout the court process, and through court proceedings as required.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all DVJR partners
• Act as the client’s voice in court conferencing and provide partners with relevant information
• Liaise with the Crown Prosecutor’s office

Qualifications / Skills:

• Diploma in related human services field with 2 years of experience in working with victims of family violence
• Professionalism within all aspects of employment and able to contribute to a positive team environment
• Thorough understanding of victimization and the dynamics of domestic and family violence
• Assessment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and engagement skills
• Experience working with diverse populations and ability to provide culturally relevant services
• Knowledge of community resources and experience accessing resources
• Knowledge and experience working in the Criminal Justice System
• General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
• Ability to work within confidentiality guidelines

Conditions of Employment:

• Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Record Check will be required; A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually
• This position has a start date of Monday, September 21, 2026.
• The hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
• The main enCompass office is located in the Transition Place Building at 10010-105 Street, Edmonton. This position’s work location would be primarily out of the DVCAP office in the Edmonton Law Courts Building located at 1A Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton. Parking is not included with the position.
