Job summary

Binder Construction is seeking a drywall installer to join our Brampton team. The candidate should hold a College/CEGEP diploma (3 months to less than 1 year) and have 1–2 years of experience with drywall, plaster, ceilings and finishing tasks.

You will inspect surfaces, apply coats, sand seams, install gypsum boards, cut openings and help estimate materials. The work environment includes at heights and dusty conditions across commercial, industrial, and residential sites.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary credential in drywall-related trade.
• Experience with plaster, joint compounds and ceilings is preferred.
• Ability to read layout and estimate materials.

• Trowel coats of stucco on exterior surfaces
• Cut openings for HVAC/electrical outlets
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts

Responsibilities

Tasks

• Instruct apprentices
• Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
• Clean and prepare surfaces
• Cure freshly plastered surfaces
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
• Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
• Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
• Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
• Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
• Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
• Estimate costs and materials
