Job summary

Chartwell Edgewater by Chartwell is seeking a Driver to transport residents, staff, and volunteers safely to appointments, outings, and events. You will assist passengers on and off the bus and maintain a clean vehicle environment.

The role requires a valid driver's license, flexibility, strong communication, and teamwork. First Aid is preferred and training is provided if needed.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school education or equivalent.
  • First Aid Certificate (training provided if needed)
  • Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Organizational skills to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient vehicle environment

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the residence vehicle to transport residents, staff, and volunteers to scheduled outings and events
  • Assist passengers on and off the bus, ensuring they are seated securely, including residents in wheelchairs
  • Act as a chaperone for residents during outings when required
  • Load and unload equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and safety checks on the vehicle
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of both the interior and exterior of the bus
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with residents, staff, volunteers, and the public

  • Ability to work flexible hours as neededPreparedness to respond to emergency situations while in transit
  • Working outdoors in various weather and traffic conditions

  • Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
