Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences is seeking a Driver to transport residents, staff, and volunteers to various activities and appointments. You will ensure safe, comfortable travel and assist passengers including those in wheelchairs, while maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.

Qualifications

  • First Aid Certificate is required or training provided.
  • Previous driving experience is required.
  • Must have a valid license or willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills to keep the vehicle environment safe and tidy.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the residence vehicle to transport residents, staff, and volunteers to outings and events.
  • Assist passengers on and off the bus, including residents in wheelchairs, ensuring they are seated securely.
  • Act as a chaperone for residents during outings when required.
  • Load and unload equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and safety checks on the vehicle.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of both the interior and exterior of the bus.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with residents, staff, volunteers, and the public.

Your professionalism, care, and friendly demeanor will help create safe, enjoyable experiences and keep our community connected.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring
  • Secondary school education or equivalent
  • First Aid Certificate (training provided if needed)

  • Clear Driving Record
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed
  • Preparedness to respond to emergency situations while in transit
  • Working outdoors in various weather and traffic conditions
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, push, and pull to assist passengers
  • Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
