Job summary

Bison Transport Inc is seeking drivers for cross-border cross-country routes, with a 2-year commitment. Candidates must hold MELT Class 1/AZ, be eligible to work in Canada and enter the U.S.

Drivers are on the road 5–10 days at a time and must be available for dispatch 24 days monthly, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. A FAST card is required and a Winnipeg-area commute is expected.

Qualifications

• Must hold a MELT certified Class 1/AZ license obtained within the last 6 months.
• Must live within a one-hour commute of our Winnipeg Terminal.
• Must be eligible to enter the United States and have border-crossing documents.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Must have held a valid Canadian Class 5/G License for at least 1 year.
• No preventable accidents within the past year.
• No more than two moving violations in the prior two years.
• FAST card eligibility.

Responsibilities

• On the road for 5 to 10 days at a time.
• Available for dispatch 24 days a month, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Drive on Highway 17 in Ontario year-round.
• Sign a 2-year contract.

Job description

This program requires a 2-year commitment to Cross-Border Driving. Candidates must hold a MELT Class 1/AZ license, be eligible to work in Canada and be eligible to enter the U.S.

• Required to be on the road 5 to 10 days at a time
• Required to be available for dispatch 24 days a month including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Required to drive on Highway 17 in Ontario 12 months a year
• Required to sign a 2-year contract

Applicants must meet all the following hiring criteria:

1. Must hold a MELT certified Class 1/AZ license, obtained with the last 6 months
2. Must live within a one-hour commute of our Winnipeg Terminal.
3. Must be eligible to enter the United States and have the necessary border-crossing documents
4. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
5. Must have held a valid Canadian Class 5/G License for a minimum of 1 year
6. Have had no preventable accidents within the past year
7. Have had no more than two moving violations within the previous two years; this includes speeding, improper moves, seatbelt fines, etc.
8. Must be eligible for a FAST card
