Job summary

Clean Harbors' Safety-Kleen Canada Inc. Chambly branch is seeking a Driver Apprentice / Laborer to join a safety-focused team. You will be trained to handle and transport hazardous waste, operate a vacuum truck, and assist in the warehouse.

Training includes a paid program and may cover obtaining a Class 3 license. Starting pay is $25.83/hour, with $27.47/hour for Class 3. Schedule is Monday–Friday (day shift).

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn hazardous waste transport and handling.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in loading and logs.
• Ability to communicate with supervisor and work independently after training.

Responsibilities

• Learn to transport hazardous waste to the warehouse in DOT/HAZMAT compliance.
• Learn proper loading/unloading of waste, proper sorting and weight checks.
• Learn to affix placards to comply with DOT requirements and company policy.
• Maintain daily logs, dispatch/trip reports, and vehicle inspection records.
• Verify mechanical condition and safe operation of equipment.

Job description

The Safety-Kleen Canada Inc. branch located in Chambly, QC, is looking for a Driver Apprentice / Laborer to join its safety-conscious team! The candidate will be trained in the handling and transport of hazardous materials. This training will cover working with a tanker truck to serve our customers, assisting in the warehouse, and operating the vacuum truck. The training is comprehensive, provided, and paid, and includes training to obtain a Class 3 license if you do not already have one. You will also be trained in various other tasks, offering you a great career opportunity in the environmental sector.

• Responsible for learning how to transport hazardous waste (using a vacuum truck or 26-foot box truck) from the customer’s site to the warehouse in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations
• Responsible for learning how to properly load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste (i.e., ensuring barrels are correctly sorted and loaded, etc.); adhering to weight limits and ensuring the proper use of company equipment.
• Responsible for learning how to properly affix placards to the vehicle to comply with company and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and regulations.
• Responsible for learning how to maintain daily logs, dispatch and trip reports, as well as vehicle inspection reports.
• Responsible for learning how to verify the mechanical condition and proper functioning of this equipment.
• May be assigned additional duties not listed above as needed by the company.
