Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic laws and company policies.

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Driver to join our team in Greater Sudbury, Canada. As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport goods and materials to various destinations, including customer facilities, vendor locations, and job sites. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. This position offers the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with a supportive team committed to excellence and operational efficiency.

  • Operate vehicles safely and in full compliance with all applicable traffic laws, provincial Ministry of Transportation regulations, and company policies
  • Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to multiple destinations, ensuring timely arrivals and professional service
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any mechanical issues and reporting them promptly to management
  • Load and unload vehicles carefully, securing all cargo properly to prevent damage or shifting during transit
  • Deliver materials to designated locations and obtain necessary signatures and documentation from receiving parties
  • Communicate effectively with customers and vendors to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and professionally
  • Maintain accurate driver logs and delivery records, ensuring all documentation is completed thoroughly and on time
  • Understand and comply with shipping documents, including hazardous materials regulations where applicable
  • Remain calm and respond effectively to unexpected situations or challenges that may arise during deliveries
  • Support team members and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive work environment
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support operational goals
Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid D/Z driver's license with a clean driving record demonstrating safe driving practices
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing motor vehicles
  • Ability to safely operate and maneuver vehicles of various sizes
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain composed and function effectively in stressful or unexpected situations
  • Physical capability to load, unload, and secure cargo safely
  • Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance awareness and pre-trip inspection procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Previous experience driving commercial vehicles or making deliveries
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and hazardous materials handling
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Word, Excel, and email software
  • Knowledge of local geography and route optimization
  • Experience with material handling equipment operation
  • Industry-specific product knowledge
