Job summary

Telecon in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking a Directional Driller to operate a directional drilling machine and support vehicle for various project sites. This full-time role is based at our Vaughan yard and pays CA$40.83 per hour, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities include loading, transporting equipment, completing logs and daily inspections, preparing drill fluids, and safe operation with adherence to CVOR and Book 7 requirements. Outdoor work in all weather is required.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A driver's license with R or Z endorsement.
  • Directional drilling experience in similar settings.
  • Ability to lift 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Knowledge of CVOR and Book 7 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload directional drill equipment.
  • Transport tools, materials and equipment safely.
  • Complete driver’s logs and daily inspection reports.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance reports.
  • Prepare drill fluid per site conditions.
  • Operate the directional drill and bore to place cables/duct.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with service.

Job Description

Telecon is looking for a Directional Driller to join our growing team. This role is based out of yard in Vaughan, Ontario.

This role is paying $40.83 per hour plus all of the extra below:

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Directional Driller will Operate a Directional Drilling machine and drive the support vehicle (s) used to transport this equipment to various project sites.

You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Load and unload directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free.
  • Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner.
  • Complete Driver’s logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, accident, or incident reports.
  • Complete a daily inspection on equipment prior to commencing work.
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing.
  • In conjunction with locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and / or duct.
  • Trouble shoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance or resolution.
  • Able to operate the drill locater as required.
  • Other duties as required.
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
  • Valid Class A driver's license with ‘R’ or ‘Z’ endorsement an asset.
  • Must have similar previous drilling experience and working around existing buried utilities.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be fully proficient with CVOR and Book 7 requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety. training as per legislative and job requirements.
