Helical Pile Solutions is a deep foundations contractor with over 30 years of industry experience, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. (“Java”). Java staff have over 50 years of experience in Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. Helical Pile Solutions Ltd. is seeking Drill Rig Operators based in Edmonton, working on projects across Western Canada. The Foundation Drill Rig Operator is responsible for safely operating foundation drill rigs and construction equipment, with a focus on safety, communication, and competent decision-making. Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
- Follow directions from Project Managers and Field Supervisors.
- Perform duties safely, accurately, and efficiently, demonstrating pride in workmanship.
- Maintain dependability and consistency within a high-performance team.
- Prioritize worksite safety and conduct Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA).
- Accurately receive materials and complete related paperwork.
- Manage worksite proactively and seek ways to improve productivity and savings.
- Mentor junior staff members.
- Conduct equipment walk-around inspections.
- Participate in preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain equipment according to regulations and standards related to safety, environment, quality, and contracts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform minor repairs, and communicate major problems to mechanics.
- Operate core equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and foundation drill rigs like Soilmec and Watson safely and proficiently.
- Operate equipment effectively in various conditions, including high traffic, remote, congested, and all weather scenarios.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Ensure safety standards are maintained at high levels.
- Complete and submit daily paperwork on time.
- Lead on-site team operations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members.
- Adhere to HPS policies, procedures, rules, and OH&S regulations.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), attend safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Represent HPS professionally on and off-site.
- Maintain physical readiness, including manual dexterity and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Class 5 Driver’s License; Class 1 or 3 preferred.
- Basic construction tools and quality assurance skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety tickets such as First Aid, H2S, CSTS, Fall Protection, and Ground Disturbance are assets.
- Compliance with HPS drug and alcohol policies is required due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
Work Environment
- Construction sites, including remote outdoor locations.
- Exposure to loud noises and extreme temperatures.
- Physical demands include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing long periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and over 50 lbs with assistance.
