Hewing Haus Modular Homes Ltd. is seeking a skilled Drafting Technician + Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of our modern, sustainable modular homes. Reporting directly to the owner and collaborating closely with the production and design teams, this role bridges technical drafting, client engagement, and project coordination.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Revit and BC Building Code standards, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for thoughtful design. Responsibilities include producing stock and custom unit drawings, coordinating with consultants and trades through all phases of the build, and managing permits and inspections. This role also requires strong client communication skills to lead design meetings, finalize finishes, and ensure seamless execution from concept to completion.
From preparing working drawings and renderings to tracking project updates and municipal requirements, this is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary position for someone who thrives on collaboration, creative problem-solving, and precision in execution.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain stock unit drawings, assembly details, and Revit families and templates.
- Create custom unit drawings, details, and Revit families as needed.
- Create preliminary and working drawing sets for use in sales, permit applications, and unit construction.
- Coordinate with the Production and Warehouse managers to review and edit working drawings.
- Present drawings during sales meetings and work with the clients to create custom floor plans.
- Lead design meetings with clients to finalize finishes and additional unit features. Track any changes or updates throughout the project and communicate all changes to the necessary parties.
- Coordinate with engineers, energy advisors, surveyors, and necessary trades throughout all stages of the project for necessary documentation and work relating to the permit process and construction of the unit.
- Research unique code requirements and different municipalities’ bylaws, zoning, and requirements for permit applications.
- Show a continuing desire to learn by staying up to date with changing code requirements and completing necessary continuing education courses relating to this position.
- Acquire and monitor all necessary permits prior to the construction of each unit. Provide all necessary documentation to carry the project through the final inspection.
- Communicate with clients in all matters pertaining to unit design, finishes, and the permit process.
- Creatively approach new site and unit designs for new projects, including multi-unit projects.
- Create beautiful, realistic renderings to share with clients and use in sales materials.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Revit and architectural drafting software
- Understanding of structural requirements within the BC building code and modular construction techniques.
- Experience with permit processes and municipal requirements
- Strong project management and client coordination skills
- Ability to track changes and oversee projects from design to final inspection
