Job summary

VMCH Pakenham is seeking reliable, caring Domestic Services Assistants to brighten residents' days with practical, compassionate support in a friendly, close-knit team. You will perform domestic tasks to maintain hygiene, clean residents' rooms and common areas, and ensure safe storage of cleaning materials in line with safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in aged care or hospital setting preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of domestic tasks to maintain hygiene standards.
• Clean residents' rooms including ensuites, furniture and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of communal areas, hallways and front entrance areas.
• Ensure safe storage, labeling and disposal of cleaning materials per MSDS guidance.
• Replenish cleaning liquids and materials while observing safety procedures.
• Report stock shortages, breakages or defects to the Residential Services Manager.

About The Role

We are looking for reliable, caring and compassionate Domestic Services Assistants (DSA) to bring joy to our resident’s day.

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, you will:

• Carry out a range of domestic tasks to maintain hygiene standards
• Cleaning residents’ rooms including ensuites, furniture and equipment, as appropriate, and communal and administrative areas
• Ensure common living areas, hallways and all other areas of the facility (including front entrance courtyards, verandas) are maintained in a clean and tidy and safe condition
• Ensure the safe storage, security and labelling of appropriate cleaning materials in line with the MSDS, and in consultation with the Residential Services Manager, while being aware of the environmental requirements of cleaning products and their disposal
• Replenishing cleaning liquids and materials whilst observing safety procedures
• Report stock shortages, breakages, building, equipment or furnishing defects promptly to the Residential Services Manager

About You

Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, families, employees and volunteers; patience; common sense and an understanding of client services

• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work without supervision
• Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to operate with discretion and to maintain complete confidentiality
• Commitment to work as part of a team
• Experience in an aged care or hospital setting is preferred but not essential
• Availability to work a variety of days and shifts is preferred
