The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the development and implementation of a next-generation cloud-based Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system. The primary focus of this role will be to take high-level requirements and define them more thoroughly for the development team. The Technical Writer will work closely with product management, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of a scalable and user-centric system. Exceptional attention to detail and strong grammar skills are essential to ensure high-quality documentation.

What you Will Do

1. Requirements Development:

  • Gather, analyze, and document high-level requirements and define them more thoroughly for the development team.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, concise, and actionable to support the development process.

2. Wireframing and Prototyping:

  • Design wireframes and mockups using tools like Balsamiq to communicate system functionality and user interface designs.

3. Documentation Development:

  • Create and maintain knowledge base content, user guides, and system documentation.
  • Prepare training materials and onboarding content for end-users.

4. Knowledge Management:

  • Organize and maintain a centralized knowledge base to support cross-team collaboration and information sharing.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible.

5. Content Strategy Development:

  • Develop and maintain a content strategy to ensure consistency in tone, style, and format across all documentation.
  • Create templates and style guides for documentation to promote standardization.

Requirements

What you Will Need to Succeed

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in process modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Draw.io), requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and wireframing tools (Balsamiq).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to create multimedia content like video tutorials or interactives guides.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Certification in technical writing, such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with CAMA systems or property appraisal methodologies.
  • Experience with SaaS application development and implementation.
  • Experience working in local government or with government agencies.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Understanding of data structures and database principles is a plus.
