Job summary

Connector Plate District or Regional Sales Manager – Western Canada

MiTek Canada, Inc., is seeking a dynamic and motivated Connector Plate District / Regional Sales Manager in Western Canada to work from a home-based office.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

The ideal candidate would be located in Edmonton, Alberta; however, we would consider a candidate being in another Western province.

A self-driven and accountable individual with high integrity, strong consultative selling skills, and customer relationship building capabilities. The candidate will grow and manage a territory, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and professionals, ensuring widespread acceptance of company solutions. They will stay updated on market trends, pricing, and product issues while prioritizing customer experience, profit, expense management, and team collaboration.

The individual should possess a technical aptitude with knowledge of structural loading and design, the Canadian Construction Industry, and ideally detailed knowledge of the truss industry. A strong work ethic and comfort in a multi-tasking environment are essential. They will act as a business advisor / strategic partner on product and technical knowledge, new software features, initiatives, services, machinery, and other areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Represent MiTek professionally, supporting the Corporation’s Strategy, Core Values, Guiding Principles, Mission, and Vision.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, focusing on meeting Canadian strategic goals for growth in MiTek’s 4 pillars.
  • Prospect new accounts and monitor existing accounts for potential risks.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via in-person visits, TEAMS, phone, and email; plan and execute visits quarterly or as needed.
  • Collaborate with support departments to ensure customer needs are met or exceeded, facilitating information exchange among team members.
  • Develop a sales plan with measurable objectives aligned with company goals, in consultation with the VP of Sales.
  • Work closely with the VP of Sales on key national / corporate accounts within the district.
  • Maintain and grow technical knowledge of the homebuilding, commercial, agricultural, and multi-family industries.
  • Manage Customer Contracts, License, and Service agreements.
  • Provide pricing via quotes, contracts, and price lists.
  • Arrange tours, seminars, and support machinery installers and software technical support.
  • Stay informed on territory, market, code changes, product issues, industry, competitors, and market forces.
  • Visit specifiers, design professionals, builders, and officials to promote products and services.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and professional activities.
  • Report regularly and submit expenses as required.
  • Assist accounting with debit / credit reconciliation if needed.
  • Utilize Salesforce for customer management, leads, cases, and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills; a great work ethic and team player with technical aptitude.
  • Ability to execute successful sales initiatives.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Professional demeanor with coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the territory (up to 50%) and occasionally out of province / country.
  • Salesforce knowledge is an asset.

Education & Experience

Minimum 5 years in a sales role within the building products / construction industry. Preferably with a Civil Engineering Technologist diploma or similar, or post-secondary education in Engineering or Business.
