Job description

We are currently looking for a Distribution Supervisor on nights at our Alexandria Moulding Calgary Distribution Center to join our VALUES based organization. The Distribution Supervisor is hands-on coordinating and managing the operations and employees of the warehouse, ensuring that operational activities are executed on time and following health and safety regulations. This position reports to the Branch Manager.

Job Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Supervision of warehouse staff, coordinate and prioritize workflow, provide training, and disciplinary procedures
  • Performance evaluation on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis
  • Drive compliance with safety, quality and productivity goals in support of warehouse leadership team objectives
  • Support and direct the dock coordinator on work allocation on the distribution floor
  • Provide daily hands-on leadership and support for the department
  • Deliver results on the warehouse floor through accountability and coaching shipper receivers
  • Responsible to roll out and maintain distribution processes, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible as a super user of the warehouse management system
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve processes and productivity to ensure warehouse runs in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Accountable for all warehouse machinery and equipment to maintain in a working order
  • Ensure warehouse facility is kept clean, all stock is maintained in an appropriate manner, good stock rotation practices are in place, and product is kept clean and damage free to ensure quality integrity
  • Run warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with all safety standards regulations
  • Execute, lead and implement project work for the site
  • Analysis, development, maintenance and creation of new or existing KPIs
  • Provide recommendations on process improvement and assist with implementation
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to be on your feet for an extended period of time
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving products, minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Identify and read tickets, SKU’s, UPC labels and reports
  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the warehouse, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing uneven walking surfaces
  • Exposure to varying types of climates
  • Wet floors may occur during rainy or snowy weather or at other times
  • Warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy
  • Sharp and/or rough edges will typically be encountered
  • Some equipment may require electric voltage

Required credentials:

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience in related field
  • Minimum two (2) years warehouse related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of 5s an asset
  • Must have experience with MHE.
  • Solid experience and working knowledge of an automated Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to work well with and through others
  • Good decision-making & problem-solving capabilities
  • Computer skills –experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job

Shift: Nights Wednesday to Saturday 10:00 pm to 8:30 am

Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 based on experience
