Job summary

BBA Consultants in Canada is looking for an electrical distribution design engineer to join our team focused on transmission and distribution lines. You will contribute to the design, rehabilitation and optimization of overhead distribution networks for utilities, renewable energy projects and major industrial clients across Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience in distribution line design.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Knowledge of standards and practices applicable to electrical distribution networks.
• Experience in preparing drawings and specifications, and providing construction support.
• Advanced level of English to collaborate with BBA offices/clients in English-speaking provinces and internationally.
• Advanced level of French to collaborate with Quebec offices/clients.
• Knowledge of PLS-TOWER, L-Pile or SAG10 is a plus.

Join our team specializing in transmission and distribution lines and help shape the evolution of electrical distribution networks that power communities, industrial facilities and renewable energy projects.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, rehabilitation and optimization of overhead distribution networks.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams and clients to develop safe, efficient solutions tailored to the growing needs of the electrification market. You will be involved in a variety of projects for utilities, renewable energy producers and major industrial clients across Quebec and throughout Canada.

• Design electrical distribution infrastructure up to 69 kV.
• Participate in the planning and optimization of distribution networks.
• Develop technical solutions for network connection, rehabilitation and expansion projects.
• Prepare and optimize PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE models.
• Perform the mechanical and structural calculations required for design.
• Prepare and review drawings, specifications, cost estimates and technical reports.
• Participate in the preparation of service proposals.
• Provide technical support to project execution and construction teams.
• Collaborate with related disciplines to ensure project success.

Position Requirements And Qualifications At a Glance

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in distribution line design.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Knowledge of standards and practices applicable to electrical distribution networks.
• Experience in preparing drawings and specifications, as well as providing construction support.
• Advanced level of English to foster effective collaboration with BBA offices and/or clients located in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally (the frequency of English use may vary from occasional to daily depending on active projects).
• Advanced level of French to foster effective collaboration with BBA offices and/or clients located in Quebec.
• Asset: Knowledge of complementary software such as PLS-TOWER, L-Pile or SAG10.
