Job summary

NEXT SUPPLY in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking a Dispatcher to efficiently plan and optimize delivery routes, coordinate drivers, and ensure the timely, accurate delivery of customer orders. You will be a positive team player with strong organizational skills, reliable decision making, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Route Planning: Plan and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
• Scheduling Deliveries: Ensure timely delivery of orders to customer locations based on priority, delivery windows, location, vehicle types and driver availability.
• Communication: Ensure excellent customer service by positively and clearly communicating with drivers, customers and other stakeholders by addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving any issues.
• Problem Solving: Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, delivery issues, truck breakdowns, and other challenges that arise during the dispatching process.
• Other Duties as Assigned: As a member of the team, there may be other tasks assigned that aren’t listed above.

• Scheduling Deliveries: Ensure timely delivery of orders to customer locations based on priority, delivery windows, location, vehicle types and driver availability
• Communication: Ensure excellent customer service by positively and clearly communicating with drivers, customers and other stakeholders by addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving any issues
• Problem Solving: Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, delivery issues, truck breakdowns, and other challenges that arise during the dispatching process
• Other Duties as Assigned: As a member of the team, there may be other tasks assigned that aren’t listed above

Recommended Qualifications

Knowledge/ Skill/ Ability Requirements

• Ability to adapt and shift priorities due to changing demands
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Good judgement and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Southwestern Ontario geography, road networks, and how to manage with digital systems
• General product knowledge to know what types of trucks must be used for routes
• Strong English verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
• Strong computer skills to manage emails, track orders and use distribution software

Experience & Education

• High School or equivalent
• Previous wholesale and/or warehouse experience an asset
• Degree or certificate in logistics or related field an asset
• Experience with logistics software
• Dispatch experience
• Driver experience an asset

Physical Demands/ Working Conditions

• This position involves frequent use of a computer and telephone
• This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
• This position involves being seated for extended periods of time
