Job summary

Donalda Club in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a part-time Dishwasher to join our kitchen brigade. The role involves maintaining clean prep areas, setting up and dismantling buffets, and safely handling cleaning chemicals in compliance with health standards.

You will support chefs and ensure cleanliness at end of shifts. Candidates should have strong work ethic, be able to work evenings and weekends, and have at least 2 years of similar experience.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in similar duties required.
• Must be WHMIS trained.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean food preparation facilities to health standards.
• Set up and dismantle buffets; manage waste and cleaning chemicals.
• Operate and monitor dishwashing machines and ensure proper chemical levels.
• Keep kitchen clean at end of shift; sweep and mop floors and coolers.
• Assist chefs and other cooks with daily kitchen tasks.

This position provides the qualified candidate with long-term growth opportunities within a highly respected private club.

As a Dishwasher, you will be responsible for maintaining the various food preparation facilities in a clean, neat and to the Toronto Public Health compliant way. Additionally, you will also be responsible for the set up and dismantling of buffets, removal of waste products and handling of all kitchen cleaning chemicals.

Schedule and Availability

This position requires full availability, including evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may vary. Typical shifts are scheduled from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

An Overview of Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Constant reorganizing of equipment, plates, small wares in storage.

• Cleans pots, dishes and kitchen equipment as required
• Restocks washed and dried items in proper location.
• Operates & Monitors dishwashing machines to ensure proper performance and chemical levels.
• Ensures that the kitchen is properly cleaned before ending shift. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors and walk-in coolers twice daily.
• Ensures that all cooking and kitchen equipment is turned off nightly.
• Sets up, polishes and removes all items required for buffet cooking and hot holding.
• Monitors and cleans drains, grease traps.
• Other kitchen related duties as assigned by Chef, Sous Chef or first cooks.

What We’re Looking For:

• Grade 10 or equivalent is recommended.
• 2 years’ experience performing similar duties is required.
• Must be able to: protect themselves and others from misuse of chemical and cleaning products, apply common sense to all situations, carry out instructions in either written, oral, or diagram form, interact with coworkers in a positive manner.

• Ability to do strenuous physical labour:

• Must be WHIMIS trained

• Must be available for all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Compensation:

The expected compensation range for this role is$19.00 – $20.00 per hour.Placement within the range will be based on demonstrated skills, relevant experience, and internal equity considerations.
