Job summary

Aspira Mayfair Terrace Retirement Living – Port Coquitlam, BC is seeking a Permanent Casual (on-call) Dishwasher to cover shifts when short-staffed. Availability required: 12:00pm-8:00pm, any day of the week.

You will help maintain residents' daily comfort by ensuring clean dishes and safe kitchen practices. Must have Grade 10, Food Safe Certificate (or willing to obtain within 30 days), and pass Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Qualifications

  • Proven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English language
  • Must have Grade 10 minimum education
  • Must have the Food Safe Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, including floors and work areas
  • Receives, unpacks and stores supplier deliveries as required

What you’ll be doing:

As a Dishwasher, you will help maintain residents’ health and well-being by ensuring dishes, kitchen equipment, and work areas are clean, safe, and sanitary at all times. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

What makes you a great fit?
  • Cleaning dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established sanitation procedures
  • Ensuring correct usage of chemicals in dish machine and pot-washing areas, i.e. uses 3-sink method for pot washing
  • Cleaning kitchen, including mopping entire floor
  • Assuming cleaning tasks as per site cleaning schedules
  • Receiving, uncrating, and putting away supplier deliveries as required
  • Alerting team leader to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
  • Performing other duties as assigned
What you need to know:
  • Grade 10 minimum education required.
  • Must have the Food Safe Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Proven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English language
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
