Job summary

Chartwells is seeking a Dishwasher to join our team at the University of King' in Halifax. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes and maintaining a clean, orderly kitchen environment.

Responsibilities include operating industrial dishwashing equipment, polishing silver where required, and supporting general kitchen sanitation. This is a casual, on-site role with hours May–August, ideal for reliable individuals who thrive in fast-paced settings.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced environments is a plus.
• Dishwashing experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with industrial dishwashing machines preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Must be physically capable of duties.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Casual hours May–August.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all dishes, glassware, pots, pans, trays, and utensils.
• Polish silver using burnishing equipment as required.
• Maintain the dish and kitchen area ensuring cleanliness and safety.
• Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, and food prep surfaces.
• Remove trash and dispose of waste properly.
• Assist with loading/unloading and moving supplies between areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, glassware, pots, pans, trays, and utensils. You will ensure that the kitchen, work areas, and equipment are maintained in an orderly and sanitary condition.

As a Dishwasher, you will:

• Clean and sanitize all dishes, glassware, pots, pans, trays, and utensils based on procedures and assigned equipment
• Polish silver using burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel and hand cloth based on procedures and assigned equipment
• Maintain the dish and kitchen area and ensures equipment is clean, in working condition and complies with safety standards
• Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks and other food prep surfaces
• Remove trash and place it in designated containers. Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans
• Assists in loading, unloading and transfer supplies, products and equipment between storage and work areas
• Other duties and tasks as assigned
