Royal Holloway University of London invites applications for a Disability Adviser in the Directorate of Student Life. The role supports disabled students to enhance their experience, advising on disability matters and adjustments while contributing to recruitment, retention and attainment.

Reporting to the Head of Disability & Neurodiversity, the post requires a candidate with strong knowledge of the disabled student experience and a compassionate, advocacy-driven approach.

Applications are invited for the new post of Disability Adviser working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London, as we expand our provision of Disability Advisers.

This full-time role provides an opportunity to support our disabled students to have a strong student experience and to also play an important role in the delivery of Royal Holloway’s wellbeing offering. The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range of student facing teams who are core to the student journey: Active Lifestyle & Sport, Careers, Chaplaincy, Counselling & Mental Health, Disability & Neurodiversity, Hall Life, International & Money Advice, Student Casework, Student Engagement & Insights and Wellbeing Support

Reporting to the Head of Disability & Neurodiversity they will contribute to the work of the Directorate and support the strategy and aims of the University and Student Journey Division. Role holders will be expected to demonstrate our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful – in their work and be a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion.

The Disability Adviser will be able to work with disabled students across their time at university and be able to respond and advise on any disability support related matters. They will be required to provide specialist advice, guidance and information to current and prospective students with a disability, and through their work contribute to student recruitment, retention and attainment

We are also seeking a candidate who has a strong knowledge and understanding of the disabled student experience and has experience in assessing and implementing reasonable adjustments. They should be strongly student focussed, with a keenness to engage proactively and supportively with students on campus, and to consistently work with compassion, kindness and advocacy.

With roles in Student Life there is a need for mainly campus-based working to enable in-person student appointments, daily drop-in services and engagement with students but there will be some opportunity for working remotely each week.
