Job summary

CIMA+’s Infrastructure team delivers customized municipal infrastructure services across Canada. The Director, Wastewater role is based in Mississauga, Markham or Kitchener in a hybrid model and combines strategic business development, client engagement, technical oversight and team leadership to support complex wastewater projects.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams through all design phases, oversee facilities and pumping stations, and mentor staff while growing client relationships across

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering.
  • Licensed P.Eng. in Ontario.
  • Minimum 15 years of municipal wastewater consulting and project leadership.
  • Experience leading significant wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
  • Strong expertise in wastewater treatment, sewage collection systems, pumping stations, and municipal infrastructure planning.
  • Proven success in managing client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental assessment processes, regulatory approvals, municipal standards, and infrastructure delivery frameworks.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and team development skills.
  • Established network of municipal client relationships within Ontario, particularly GTA and Southwestern Ontario, is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and design direction on major wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery, including environmental assessments, planning, approvals, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Direct the planning and execution of wastewater treatment facilities, sewage collection systems, and sewage pumping stations.
  • Oversee project coordination, resource allocation, budget management, risk assessment, and quality assurance to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project partners throughout project development and implementation.
  • Lead business development activities, including client relationship management, strategic account growth, proposal development, and project pursuits.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the Water sector.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to project managers, engineers, and technical staff while fostering professional development and mentorship across the team.
  • Collaborate with leaders across multiple disciplines to deliver integrated and innovative infrastructure solutions.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and professional associations to strengthen market presence and client relationships.

Director, Wastewater

The role is based out of our Mississauga, Markham or Kitchener offices in a hybrid model. It combines strategic business development, client engagement, technical oversight, and team leadership to support the successful execution of complex wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal wastewater consulting, engineering, and project leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading significant wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
  • Strong expertise in wastewater treatment, sewage collection systems, pumping stations, and municipal infrastructure planning.
  • Proven success in managing client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental assessment processes, regulatory approvals, municipal standards, and infrastructure delivery frameworks.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and team development skills.
  • Established network of municipal client relationships within Ontario, particularly within the GTA and Southwestern Ontario, is considered a strong asset.
