Job description

The Director of Product Management reports to the Vice President of Information Technology & Digital Transformation.

Our company, a leader in providing compelling and unique rail journeys, is seeking a highly innovative and collaborative Director of Product Management to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic vision, building a winning team, and leading the execution of our technology product portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the product operating model, with a proven track record of leading product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional employee and guest experiences.

Key Areas of Accountability
  1. Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Act as the primary coach for your team, differentiating coaching from direct product management.
  2. Strategic Leadership: Define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with company goals and market opportunities. Lead quarterly planning sessions and ensure team alignment with strategic objectives.
  3. Product Development: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to value realization, ensuring timely insights, prototypes, testing, and solutions are delivered.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure cohesive product development and go-to-market strategies. Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to optimize delivery processes and quality.
  5. Market Analysis: Establish standards for conducting comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats, informing the long-term product strategy.
  6. Guest Focus: Promote guest-centric thinking organization-wide, ensuring guest needs and feedback influence product development and organizational objectives.
  7. Innovation: Cultivate a culture of innovation by introducing new methods and tools that encourage creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement. Promote sharing of innovation practices across teams.
  8. Performance Metrics: Set and monitor Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for product teams. Hold managers accountable for outcomes and utilize data to drive focus and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education, Certifications, Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of the product operating model and agile methodologies.
  • Proven leadership in inspiring teams and driving results.
Skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Vancouver-based; hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days in the office.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary range: $160,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Eligible for Armstrong Collective’s discretionary bonus.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including employer-paid premiums, disability benefits, travel emergency assistance, vacation and sick leave, up to 5% RRSP/TSFA match, and two annual train tickets after the first year.
