Job description

Our Purpose

Mastercard powers economies and empowers people in 200+ countries and territories worldwide. Together with our customers, we’re helping build a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. We support a wide range of digital payments choices, making transactions secure, simple, smart, and accessible. Our technology, innovation, partnerships, and networks combine to deliver a unique set of products and services that help people, businesses, and governments realize their greatest potential.

Title and Summary

Position: Director, Product Development

Who is Mastercard?

Mastercard is a global technology company in the payments industry. Our mission is to connect and power an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone, everywhere by making transactions safe, simple, smart, and accessible. Using secure data and networks, partnerships, and passion, our innovations and solutions help individuals, financial institutions, governments, and businesses realize their greatest potential.

Our decency quotient, or DQ, drives our culture and everything we do inside and outside of our company. With connections across more than 210 countries and territories, we are building a sustainable world that unlocks priceless possibilities for all.

Services within Mastercard are responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution.

Fraud and chargebacks disrupt the entire payments ecosystem, driving both card issuers and merchants to focus on resolving disputes instead of increasing card acceptance and revenue. Ethoca Consumer Clarity (“Clarity”) changes the dialogue, creating a rich environment for issuers and merchants to engage cardholders post-transaction, reducing frustration and driving repeat spend.

The Director of Product Management will:

  • Develop a strategic roadmap leveraging market and customer research based on Clarity and Disputes’ long-term vision.
  • Evaluate new opportunities for Clarity from revenue, strategic, and technology synergy perspectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the value proposition of the suite of Clarity products beyond dispute deflection.
  • Oversee product evolution, establish go-to-market strategy, pricing, and optimize products and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver the roadmap of features working in a cross-functional team setup including Engineering, Data Science, Senior Product leaders, and Innovation teams of Mastercard.
  • Understand Mastercard’s business model and consider key financial or commercial factors.
  • Leverage the Studio framework to manage the delivery of ongoing innovation and enhancements to focus products.
  • Deploy test & learn experimentation to ensure that the end-user and customer experience is continuously optimized.
  • Incorporate an understanding of the broader payments ecosystem into ongoing product management (e.g., regulatory, legal, technology, competitive environment).
  • Build reusable capabilities for AI-driven product development.
  • Take accountability for the delivery of key product enhancements and partner with guild members to deliver (e.g., CX&D, Product Management – Technical).
  • Participate in cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Product Management-Technical, CX&D) to develop business requirements to achieve product objectives.
  • Partner with the Guilds to create best practices within the program, focusing on continuous improvement and proposing enhancements to program leadership.
  • Drive institutional knowledge through consistent product documentation across the Studio framework.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by leveraging the learning & development curriculum.
  • Lead by example with hands-on approaches to product management excellence, sharing best practices, and embodying Mastercard Way Values.

Experiences

  • Knowledge and experience in leveraging the latest AI tools to build and scale future-forward features efficiently and shorten time to market.
  • Experience building or managing data-heavy products that utilize ML and AI technologies.
  • Extensive experience in launching products in multiple markets.
  • Ability to independently develop product strategies and align with senior executives.
  • Clear understanding and ability to explain business context and customer use cases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to improve team processes to accelerate development, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality.
  • Experience as a people manager, capable of attracting, recruiting, and developing technical talent.
