Job summary

Compass-Group is seeking a Director, Operations Accounting to lead a multi-sector accounting team and oversee monthly close, reporting, and controls. The role requires IFRS expertise, strong leadership, and strategy alignment with Operations.

You will drive process improvements, support audits, and explore AI-enabled automation to scale governance and accuracy across entities. CPA designation and multi-site leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• CPA designation (or equivalent) with strong IFRS knowledge.
• Progressive leadership experience in a multi-entity environment.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, controls and compliance.
• Experience managing accounting professionals and teams.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience (JD Edwards is an asset).

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of sector controllers, controllers, and accountants.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for accurate reporting.
• Ensure IFRS compliance and internal control adherence across sectors.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity and reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate client billings and reporting per contracts.
• Partner with Operations and clients to govern financials.
• Support internal, external, and client audits and respond to inquiries.
• Lead onboarding of new business accounting.
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI in processes.
• Drive standardization across sectors and improve controls and efficiency.
• Ensure activities align with governance standards.

Description

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $150,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. The Director, Operations Accounting is a key leadership role within the Accounting function, reporting to the Vice President, Accounting.

This role is responsible for providing oversight of operational accounting across multiple sectors, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to internal controls and company policies.

Working in close partnership with Operations, this role ensures that accounting processes support the business while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, control, and compliance.

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sector Controllers, Controllers, and Accountants across multiple business sectors
• Provide oversight of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and internal control requirements across all assigned sectors
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, including detailed review of reconciliations and resolution of issues
• Ensure accurate and timely client billings, reporting, and adherence to contractual requirements
• Act as the key Accounting partner to Operationsand Clients (where required), supporting issue resolution while maintaining appropriate financial governance
• Support internal, external, and client audit processes and respond to audit inquiries effectively
• Lead the accounting onboarding of new business
• Identify and implement opportunities to leverage automation and AI-enabled solutions to streamline accounting processes, enhance controls, and improve reporting efficiency
• Drive consistency and standardization of accounting processes across sectors
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, efficiency, and scalability
• Ensure teams operate in alignment with company policies and financial governance standards
