Position Overview
The Director of Technology will align the company’s technology strategy andcapabilities with its business objectives. This role will lead the Technologyteam across five interconnected segments, integrating technology solutions withoperational efficiency initiatives. With a strong emphasis on people leadership,the Director will mentor and develop the team while fostering collaboration,innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability across all five segments.The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of technology and its rolein enabling the business, combined with proven experience leadingcross-functional teams, driving digital transformation, and improving businessprocesses. This leadership role requires a balance of strategic vision, soundbusiness judgment, and engaged people management to advance technology andoperational efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the Technology team across five distinct segments, ensuringpriorities, resources, and initiatives are aligned with the company’s goalsand objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth by providing coaching,performance feedback, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Serve as a bridge between the Technology team and other departments, ensuringclear communication of goals, project updates, and challenges, whilepartnering with business leaders to evaluate competing needs and prioritizeinitiatives based on business impact, urgency, risk, and available resources.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with theorganization’s vision, ensuring that technology enables business growth andoperational efficiency.
- Lead the digital transformation efforts, including the integration of newtechnologies, system upgrades, and software implementations that drivebusiness growth and innovation.
- Provide oversight of technology risk management, ensuring appropriatecontrols, accountability, and compliance with data security, privacyregulations, and industry best practices.
- Develop succession plans for key roles across the Technology team’s fivesegments, ensuring continuity and future readiness.
- Manage team dynamics and resolve conflicts effectively, maintaining strongmorale, collaboration, and productivity across the Technology team.
- Provide strategic oversight of business process improvement efforts, ensuringthe team identifies operational inefficiencies, prioritizes high-impactopportunities, and implements sustainable improvements across the company.
- Oversee the use of data analytics and business intelligence tools to monitorand optimize key operational metrics, ensuring insights support informeddecision-making.
- Oversee multiple technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time,within scope, and on budget.
- Oversee the reliability, security, scalability, and ongoing evolution of thecompany’s technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware,and software, to support current and future business needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external IT vendors and serviceproviders to optimize costs and service levels.
- Oversee the Technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources andinvestments in technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relatedfield; an MBA, MIS, or comparable graduate degree is preferred. Equivalentexperience combining business leadership with work in a technologyenvironment will also be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT management, with at least 5 yearsin a leadership position.
- Proven experience in managing IT departments, driving digital transformation,and overseeing business process improvement initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of IT infrastructure, software development,cybersecurity, and cloud technologies.
- Strong people management skills with a track record of developinghigh-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of business intelligence, process automation, and ERPsystems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead,inspire, and develop diverse teams.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive company-wideinitiatives.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with a focus onemployee engagement and operational excellence.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practicallanguage that enables business leaders across the organization to makeinformed decisions.
