Job description

Our client is a highly reputed, global investment bank with a growing presence in the Canadian market.They are seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations to manage a team of payments processing specialists and lead change management initiatives.

This role involves overseeing high-volume, time-sensitive transactions and ensuring operational readiness and compliance with internal controls and regulatory policies, as well as leading a team and driving a strong culture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage disputes and exceptions related to payments, and lead investigations for operational issues.

What you'll do :

• Oversee payments and reconciliations processes, prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure funds availability for processing
• Provide subject matter knowledge to the team on complex payment queries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Risk, Compliance and Audit
• Manage operational relationships with correspondent banks and partners
• Lead a team of experienced professionals, train staff on operational processes and organisational initiatives
• Review operational procedures, and drive necessary operational efficiencies and system enhancements.

What you bring :

• Demonstrated 10+ years’ Canadian financial services industry experience, from within an investment or corporate banking environment is a must
• Deep knowledge of payments, treasury operations, trade finance and clearing arrangements, and an ability to oversee a high volume of payments processing
• Understanding of fraud mitigation and driving risk management related to payments
• Expertise in regulatory compliance requirements impacting domestic and international payments
• Strong ability to define and develop operational policies
• Proven leadership experience in leading change management initiatives and in driving process and system enhancements within a financial services institution
