Our client in Hamilton, Ontario, an established apparel manufacturer, seeks a Director of Operations for an onsite role with hours 7-4 and half days on Fridays. Mentoring by current leader for 12 months is offered.

Salary compensation ranges from CAD 100,000 to CAD 120,000 with a focus on production management, quality, scheduling, and cost control across Canada and the USA. Responsibilities include overseeing production processes, staffing, equipment purchases, and health & safety compliance,

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Management or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Result oriented proven leader.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Hard working, diligent and highly motivated.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and AS400 platform (a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all production management to ensure continuous improvement of all production processes.
  • Maintain our high company standards of quality.
  • Administer efficient production scheduling to balance factory and meet delivery requirements.
  • Manage production staffing levels to maximize production efficiencies and cost compliance.
  • Reduce costs where opportunities exist without impacting productivity or quality.
  • Manage new product development and made-to-measure alteration processes.
  • Ensure timely shipments of all products throughout Canada and the USA on a daily basis.
  • Minimize production downtime through continuous preventative maintenance of the facility, machinery and equipment.
  • Manage all new equipment purchases, including needs assessment, researching options and ROI calculations.
  • Direct purchasing of all consumables.
  • Develop a strong-working relationship with the union to maintain a cohesive team.
  • Create team spirit through accomplishment of long and short term goals.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of health & safety.

Job description

Our client, an established apparel manufacturer is currently searching for a Director of Operations. We are looking for someone eager to learn the industry as well as being mentored by the current individual for a period of 12 months. Someone who is in a managerial role looking for their next step up in the career.

The hours for the role are 7-4 and half day Fridays. They shut down for 3 weeks during the summer and 1 week during the holidays. This is a mandatory onsite role.

Compensation: 100-120k
