Recruiting In Motion - Eastern Ontario is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Gloucester, ON site. You will lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery, and coach Lead Hands and production teams while aligning with production standards and performance goals.

You will monitor resources, address risks, drive continuous improvement with Lean and RCCA methodologies, and collaborate with Scheduling, Engineering and Maintenance to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of manufacturing experience with progressive leadership

Responsibilities

Position Title: Production Supervisor

Location: Gloucester, ON

Salary & Benefits: $78,000 to $87,000 with benefits and vacation

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of manufacturing operations, ensuring production activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational priorities. Acting as the vital link between plant leadership and the production floor, this role provides leadership, coaching, and direction to Lead Hands and production teams while ensuring consistent application of production standards, quality expectations, and performance objectives. The Production Supervisor proactively monitors operations, resolves challenges, optimizes resources, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement to achieve production, safety, and customer delivery goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities across assigned manufacturing areas to achieve production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
  • Translate plant production priorities into clear direction for Lead Hands and production employees, ensuring consistency across shifts and departments.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, equipment, and material availability, adjusting priorities and resources as needed to maintain productivity.
  • Anticipate production demands and proactively address operational risks, including staffing shortages, equipment issues, and material constraints.
  • Provide hands-on support to troubleshoot production challenges and remove barriers that impact operational performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and support Lead Hands and production employees, promoting accountability, teamwork, and strong day-to-day execution.
  • Assist with workforce planning activities, including scheduling, vacation planning, attendance management and labour allocation.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management and development of production employees.
  • Foster a positive and respectful labour relations environment while ensuring compliance with the collective agreement and company policies.
  • Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all health, safety and security procedures are consistently followed and regularly reviewed.
  • Reinforce accountability for product quality, operational standards, and regulatory compliance across all production activities.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures, and workplace regulations.
  • Monitor key production performance indicators, including productivity, downtime, waste and efficiency, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote consistent reporting, documentation and communication across production teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Partner with Scheduling, Engineering, Maintenance, Project Management and other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve operational issues.
  • Provide leadership and operational support across production areas as business needs require.
  • Contribute to plant-wide initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • Hands-on production leader who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and enjoys developing high‑performing teams while driving operational excellence.
  • At least five years of manufacturing experience, including progressive leadership experience as a Team Lead or Production Supervisor, and solid understanding of production planning, workflow coordination and plant operations.
  • Proactive problem solver with experience applying continuous improvement principles, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Comfortable balancing competing priorities, using data to make informed decisions, communicating effectively across all levels of the organization, and leading with a strong commitment to safety, quality and accountability.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing or construction environment (highly valued).
  • Experience with occupational health and safety requirements, interpreting production drawings and schedules, preparing operational reports and working with ERP or production tracking systems such as Sage 300 or Misys.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Bilingualism considered an asset.

This is a fully on-site position, and candidates must be available to work either shifts of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
