Director of Human Resources
Location: Marystown, NL. Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent. Work‑Type: On‑site.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Director of Human Resources is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). The Director of HR leads the Company’s human resources strategy and oversees all aspects of human resource operations across the organization. This is an opportunity for a leader who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. The role partners with leaders across the organization to address people challenges, build leadership capability, and create programs and policies that enhance the employee experience while supporting operational priorities. As a visible and approachable leader, this role will champion an inclusive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture and drive continuous improvement across all areas of human resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the human resources function, aligning people strategies with organizational goals, operational priorities, and long‑term business objectives.
- Lead, coach and support the Human Resource team, fostering collaboration, professional development and service excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders, providing trusted guidance and responsive practical support to meet their people management needs.
- Support and champion Occupational Health and Safety, its team and program throughout the organization.
- With a data‑driven approach, lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and practices that enhance the employee experience and support a high‑performing culture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment and OHS legislation, regulations, company policies and best practices while promoting fair and consistent HR practices.
- Manage people data and processes in the company’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS), driving adoption and optimization of its abilities.
- Provide oversight for company payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments and remittances occur.
- Manage complex unionized and non‑unionized employee‑relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
- Ensure HR‑related documents, records, and systems are accurately maintained, securely managed, and aligned with operational and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of feedback where open, respectful and engaging dialogue between employees and management on topics of mutual importance and interest occur regularly.
- Contribute to financial management including the development and adherence to an HR budget.
- Champion company values and their integration into everyday operations, decision‑making and workplace practices.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8+ years of human resource management experience, preferably in the industrial sector.
Assets
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- CPHR designation.
- Experience supporting a unionized workforce and participating in the collective bargaining process.
- Experience overseeing OHS.

- In‑depth knowledge of employment legislation and legal regulations.
- Experienced people leader with proven ability to build, mentor and develop high‑performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and leading HR strategy.

- Demonstrated sound judgement and strong decision‑making skills.
