  • Design and implement engagement strategies that foster connection and belonging, and support onboarding experiences that set employees up for success.
  • Monitor turnover, identify trends and proactively address retention risks, including through surveys, check-ins and stay interviews.
  • Support leaders with performance management, coaching and development planning, and help design simple, effective performance processes.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate learning opportunities, and coach leaders on having meaningful, constructive conversations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on day-to-day HR matters, including conflict resolution, investigations and complex employee situations.
  • Ensure fair, consistent and compassionate handling of people issues, and provide guidance on policies, best practices and employment legislation.
  • Implement HR policies, processes and tools from the ground up, and ensure compliance with employment standards and legislation in Nova Scotia.
  • Maintain employee records and support HR systems, including CRM/HRIS integration.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs, and help build a culture where safety, wellbeing and respect are shared responsibilities.
  • Use data and insights to inform decisions and improve outcomes across the employee lifecycle.
What you will bring:

  • Strong experience in recruitment and employee relations.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Honest, grounded and people-first, with a genuine interest in how employees experience their work.
  • Independent and resourceful, with the initiative to figure things out and build from the ground up.
  • Experience with HR systems, CRMs, or other tech-enabled environments.
